I have a 1978 Datsun 620b P/U >....

I have found an add in a news paper for a "1979 datsun 4 speed 4 cylinder engine and trans taken out of a 1979datsun P/U 130.000 miles".. I am trying to get pictures but the question is........................ Can I be pretty sure that this engine and trans will fit in my 78 model??/ Did they change the engine half way through 1979 or just the truck body model to 720??/ or is there another 79 Datsun 4 speed 4 cyl for that year of a different model that might stick me?

Very appreciated as I will probably pay for and ship this engine today sight un-seen..

If it is an L20B, L18, or L16 it will fit your truck providing noone has swapped to a different motor in your truck. Check the overall lengthe of the 2 trans to be sure they are the same.
