engine dies at 2100 rpm

1989 maxima with a v6 motor. When engine heats up it will cut off at exactly 2100rpm. Runs great up until that point and after. Drive it down the road and all is well, hits 2100 rpm and dies, starts right back up....or....rev past 2100rpm and drives like normal.where would I start to fix problemthanks
