I went to check a datsun 620 pick up out and the motor started up as soon as you turn the ignition but it has like a high idle or something .i was wondering if the motor is messed up or is it still alright. i dont know what a regular datsun sounds like so i dont know if it is weird or not. any help?

wo, looks pretty good, high idel could be a vacume leak or simply idle screw on the carb turned to far, if it's running smoothly I'd think it's an easy fix

It's just the carb, ive owned 5 620's and have had a few of them idle very high even with the idle screw adjusted all the way in. either rebuild the carb or just get a wber 32/36 downdraft carb. I have rebuilt a few of these carbs and only one or two of them have worked better then they did, i would suggest to just try and find a weber cause they are easy to find and rebuild and pretty cheap, also give way more pep than the stock hitachi carbs.
