I haven't found this question yet.

Has there been any talk about the benefits of a engine damper for the Max/I30/I35?

Engine damper? What do you mean, a vibration controlling mount or something?

GLE's (and SE's?) have an electronically controlled motor mount... and GXE's don't. I have a GXE and a GLE but they're too different right now in character (I think my GXE needs a MAF clean and a grounding kit to solve my harsh 1st-2nd shift) for me to be able to compare motor mount differences.

Do a search, it's basically a small shock absorber mounted to the upper side of your engine to reduce torque of your engine under initial tip in. You could also call it a "torque damper". When you rev your engine does it "Tweek" in the engine bay in the direction that your flywheel spins? Mine does.

bump.

i'm glad i did a seach b4 starting a new thread, i didn't want to look like an idiot...but maybe it's too late

anyways, i became very interested in the Torque Damper about 5 minutes ago when i was surfing the internet, and came across a Mustang that had one. I instantly was like "I NEED ONE OF THOSE!!!"

the question is, does anybody make a bolt on kit, or to we have to fab one ourselves? I know that the front engine mount is electronically controlled, but it's not enough...especially when i've already replaced that motor mount along with the passenger side motor mount b/c the engine moved/moves around too much.

where can i get one?link?

thanks MaxFans!

well i havent actually looked yet, but if anyone has a few min to take a ride with the hood off and tell me how much the engine shifts to the front and back under load that would help

i'm sure you don't have to drive with the hood off, there's got to be some sort of a measuring system or gauge you can attach to the motor while driving?

well to gauge the deflection of the engine it works best when you can actually see the engine. i got a paid day off today (slow carpenters&operating engeneers ftw) so im gonna work on my car. if i get it running ill give it a shot. to make the gauge you just need a yard stick, and a long nail. position the yard stick over the engine, silicone the nail to the intake manifold. set your number to zero (usually 24" since you can read both directions) and drive. dont need to go far but do need to go on heavy load. last time i did it i had the hood off but i also mounted my video camera to the strut tower so i could concentrate on just beating the poop out of the car and get the reading later.i found a universal dampener but its out of stock so depending on what i find with the deflection ill know better what to do
