'92 maxima. having a wierd problem. it cuts-out while driving, sometimes at idle, pretty much whenever it wants. it doesn't bog-down or sputter, or miss...it is like the engine cuts out, then comes back on completely, then cuts out, then full on. as if you had a light switch rigged to the fuel delivery system and ignition. in fact thats what I think it is but the cause is unknown. thought that maybe the alarm system is malfunctioning and is causing this. I thought this because while at a light, several times now, it just dies the same way it dies while driving and the security light begins to flash. any ideas? I also have a post in the stereo and alarm section asking about disarming the OEM security system. maybe thats it. but if not, any ideas?

TPS sensor may be worn down and losing contact. I saw that on an old Pathfinder and it drove me nut for the longest time before I figured it out.

the factory alarm is not wired into your ignition system. as a matter of fact none of the nissan "ALARM SYSTEMS" are wired into the ignition system. the only factory device that will stop the car from starting is the nats system. which is seperate from the alarm system and did not came out till 1998 or 1999.which engine do you have in your max vg30e or ve30de? or if your not sure is it an se model(spoiler on the trunk)
