i have a question about my sohc.if i take past 4200 rpm it loses all power in any gear, i either have to shift gears or put it into nuetral and wait till i slow down a little bit. its horrible tryin to pass or do anything because it feels like i just blew the motor. thanks for the help!

had that problem in my old 240.. check your fuel filter first, if not that, then check your fuel pump..

well i bought a brand new one and put that on it,then the car sat for a year. i got it runnin about 6 months ago but i thought it could be the ecu. the timing chain is also chattering really loud, could it be that?im lookin for another sohc and just put the new chain on that and build that motor for boost in the mean time.i also heard the gauge cluster might be sending a signal to the ecu and the reason i thought that might be it is because my speedo doesnt work. it will sometimes but most of the time it doesnt.

I'm not certain, because you have an s13, but... Has your transmission been out lately? Mine (s14) has a speed limiter of 120mph. Approximately equal to 4200 in 5th gear. I had my transmission out, yes I know it has different position sensors than yours, but when I put it back, the speed-o sensor wasn't plugged in all the way and I'd inadvertantly switched the neutral and 5th gear sensors! I got a couple hundred miles on it before realizing all I had to do for the speed-o was plug it in all the way. A few months after that I got into tracing my transmission position wires and discovered my mistake. Swapped plugs and all was fine. Basically, when I was in 5th, it thought I was in neutral and when it was in any other gear it thought I was in 5th... Be sure to reply with your solution and what the problem really was!
