So now that I've had time to mess with my car, I've tried starting it. The engine turns over, I see the belts move, I hear and smell gas going through the lines, and everything looks good but it does not want to turn on. Could anybody tell me an idea on what it can be? I can tell you now it has nothing with the fuel.

Is this a sudden problem or something that has gotten progressively worse?

Is this the first time you've tried to start it since buying it? Did it run before you bought it?

Was it running before you acquired it or parked it?

Is it in original condition or modified and by whom?

For internal combustion engines, you need 4 things: fuel, air, compression, and spark ... delivered at the appropriate time.

As for helping, we need more information.

cas can cause this as it reads timing for the injectors as well as the spark. could also be the ptu as it can cause you to not have spark also.(figured its a spark issue since you say you smell fuel. sometimes the connectors can be the issue. had one act similar to this before. cas plug was getting a bad connection and you had to wiggle it to get a decent connection to start. also the ptu subharness and has a few connectors that can get corroded. best thing is the check and see if your signal to the injectors. one of those diode lights that plug into the injector harness can help with that. then see if you have spark. you can do that many different ways but the quickest is have a spare coil with a spark tester in the end of it. hope this helps. as the person posted above an engine needs 4 things. from your description it sounds like you have 3 assuming the timing isn't off or the engine is shot.

First thing's first =>>300zx-z32-ecu-diagnostic-t249406.html

Now you want to pull a coil pack and spark plug and check for spark while grounding it safely away from fuel. Then you want to do a search in the forum at the top right for how to test the injectors. You can do a test using a screwdriver to listen to the clicking. Then you can test the CAS by pulling it off and turning it by hand to listen for the injectors firing (also found in the search). Lastly, pull the PTU, clean the connections, and test it according the FSM. http://www.nicoclub.com/archives/nissan ... nuals.html

Post up what you find! :dblthumb:

If the car has sat for an extended period of time, corrosion of the connectors for various items throughout the engine bay such as the injector connectors and Coolant Temp Sensor may be a problem so you may want to plan on checking these out after you get running.
Be sure to check the CAS connection as Ziggy mentioned first.
