I want to replace the ECCM control unit on my 1985 300 ZX. The maintenance manual shows that it is located in the engine compartment. where is it located? it is not where shown in the maintenance manual

Welcome aboard Will!

ECCM isn't a common term for the Z31. If you mean the engine computer (ECU or ECCS), it's behind the P side kickpanel.

I might be off-base, but are you referring to the cruise control module?

Welcome!
Being that this is the Z32 tech section, you may get better results from the classic Z tech section for Z31 questions.
In many cases the factory online service manuals have very good diagrams and locators, so in addition to polling the classic Z guys, I'd suggest finding a OSM source and/or also speak to a Nissan dealer about better solutions that may be possible.
