i searched and found many problems similar to mine, but nothing exact. I recently replaced my stereo and my tail lights and dash lights have not worked since. I found the problem was probally caused by a short in the acc. wire from the stereo which i cleaned up. Everything else works, including the stereo, and I dont have any blown fuses. On further testing i found that the "engine control" fuse under the hood was not recieving any power at all, but the fuse in my dash pannel was. I didn't think the engine cont had anything to do with my lights, but could this be my problem? if so, is there a relay that needs to be replace?i have a 90 infiniti q45.thanks.

Well the obvious question does the car run?

If the car runs then your ECU is obviously working, and thus the ECU relay is obviously fine....

yeah, i thought it was a dumb question. the car runs fine, so do you think it's a different relay for one of the other fuses? if so, do you know if there's a single relay that would account for the dash and tail lights not working?thanks!

Are your headlights stuck on high beam? Are your brake lights working? How about the lights on the seat switches in the front doors? If the answer is yes to any of the above go look in the engine fuse box at the 3rd or 4th fuse (from the firewall) in the middle row. It may be labeled as the illumination circuit in your Q.

A couple of us have been fooled by this fuse being burned out but not being able to see it with the naked eye. Pull out and measure this and all the fuses for continuity with a voltmeter, to know for sure they are working. Good luck.
