Okay, so I have electric fans, and I had them wired to the engine cont fuse, so they are only on when my car is on, I noticed today my car was overheating a bit, so I checked, and the whole engine cont fuse plug in spot is melted and I can't plug any fuses in.

Can this be replaced? I checked on my spare parts 240 and I dont see how to take the little fuse plugin thing off and switch them. Any ideas?

Is the engine cont fuse even necessary?

Well here is the thing, Your are lucky to be alive and still have a running car (Thats not on fire).

If there is a fuse for the engine (Engine control?) then of course its needed. I think you have to replace the ENTIRE fuse box though for that one fuse.

Lesson here is to wire things to the battery with a fuse right before the battery but as close as possible to the battery.
