Hi All,
one night my car started to smell like a burnt electronic part while driving. I parker at home and from then the car starts but the engine does not stay on unless I press on gas when I start and keep the engine going but once the engine is warm I could turn it off and it starts fine.so basically once the engine is warm it starts fine. but the burnt is strong in the car.My mechanic checked the car and said the Idle air Control (throttle body) is not working and that is causing the problem and for the burning smell had an electrician checked the car and found out the Engine Computer was burnet out.
Now my question is do I have to change the Idle Air Control as well or if I just change the ECM it should be fine?
I am afraid the idle air control was the cause of the problem with the ECM and will mess up the second one too.
Please advise if I need to change both or Just ECM or if I have to make sure to change the Idle Air first.
