Engine codes, please help

Ok here's the deal, my car was running fine and all of a sudden it dies, I managed to keep it running, but it took a good five minutes of keeping the idle above 2000rpms. After it finally stabilized the check engine light came on and started blinking, it did this for about twenty minutes and then just stopped..... now it's no longer illuminated, should i even worry about this.... the car is a 92 240sx with 167k, not sure about the history of the engine, I bought this car from a kid who was gonna try and race it so he stripped the interior and left only the seats.....

I've gone through the faq's and saw a couple of posts on looking up the trouble codes, but they all mention a red and green light on the ecu. Their is only a red light on the back of my ecu, am I missing something or not looking at it right maybe????

There is only a red led light on the inside of the ECU. Dump the codes on the ECU to find out what code you're throwing. Here is the procedure for doing this.
