Engine Codes for KA24E OBD1

I need to check my 240! im having Electronic problems! COuld be my ECU n i need 2 check it! Cuz if its bad i might need to get another one! Does anyone know where i can ge tuned ECU for a reasonable price? Cuz right now im on a tight budget and need this thin bak on the road ASAP! which is the easiest way to define the engine codes being the fact i have OBD1 My friends got a code reader but its for OBDII so.. which is the easiest n best way 2 figure out the codes? And if i can get a reader which one would be a a good engine code reader??

look up codes in tutorials in my signature. i dont think there is an easy way to hook up consult for 1989. there is nothing like obd2 readers that would work on 89.

thanx dude! I checked my relay box n found the Alternator Relay was blown so im going 2 relplace that and see if that fixes the problem! Thanks for the link though i needed all info!
