Engine Cleaning ?

Got a really genicric question...

What replaces good old Gunk to degrease the engine?

Got to replace steering pump and hoses and it's a mess down there!..

I really like using brake parts cleaner for really nasty areas... For the not so bad parts (like the top of the engine), i like using simple green full strength and hosing it off with a gentle mist.

I used simple green on basically my entire engine and engine bay when i did my swap. Still looks great underneath the hood. Only problem i found with simple green is it smells a tad like jager which then i found myself running to the packie to buy some....
