Hi guys,

I have a 04 g35 coupe. The other day I replaced the air filter.. but stupid me forgot to plug the wire back into the air intake. I turned on the car.. and smelled gas outside. I then realized that i forgot to plug that wire back in.. I immediately turned off the car and replugged in the wire. Now, my engine check light is on, would i really have to take my car to the dealership? Anyone knows how to fix this? the car runs fine, the light stays solid, not blinking.

Thank you in advance

Mmm, probably not. Just run it a few times to see if it goes off. If you smelled gas, you probably just flooded the engine.

If it doesn't go off after driving it a little while, disconnect the negative battery terminal for 5 minutes or more and reconnect it back and the light will be off. Or you can take it to a dealership and get charged a small fee for removing the light if you don't have the hook up at the dealership. Some autozones may remove the code, but the one I go to won't do so.

I assume that the wire you're referring to is the MAF harness.

I've done that countless times. There are a couple of ways to kill the light. The easiest is to disconnect the battery and let the ECU discharge. Another option (which prevents your clock and stereo from being reset) is to perform the ECU reset procedure listed in the "Tech Page" (look up on the navigation bar).

Both work, both have their benefits and drawbacks.

I made the same mistake. It will go out by itself after 100- 200 miles.

Each time you start the vehicle the ECU does a check and will eventually turn the light off.

In the future u should try to develop a relationship with a local mechanic who has a scanner. This will eliminate alot of guess work. My mechanic gives diagnostics and resets for free- you may have to pay a small fee - but it is worth it.

There r still times when it may be better to go to a dealer - but having a local mechanic as an option will save you $$$$$.

By local mechanic do you mean an Infiniti Tech or a Pepboys Tech?
