Sup Fellas~! My 240's doin some weird things, this has happened before, then it went away. (A total of 2 times) While driving, my engine check light will come on, no difference in the car's performance what so ever, then it will come off...all on its own. I tried to see if there were any vaccuum lines amiss, but I couldnt see anything wrong with it...plus I raced it around with the engine check light on to see if it would bog/stumble, and nothing~! The light would stay on about 2-3 mins, then it'll go off...my car's completely stock so I doubt it's the intake/header/exhaust, they all seem to work fine...

Any thoughts????

For some strange reason, running at low RPM will cause this to happen. the engine runs rich at low rev, so running for a few minutes over 3k RPM will usually turn the light back off. Common problem from what I've seen.

Your check engine light will come on when there is a problem with emmissions. I'm not sure off the top of my head where I read that, but basically anytime your emmissions get above a certain level, that thing comes on. that being the case, when you take it to get smogged, make sure it isn't on.

That's what I'm trying to tell you. It's just a case of the car running too rich because your RPM is low. There isn't a vacuum problem. I've seen at least 5 240's do the same thing. It's nothing more than a glitch. That's why it's intermittant. Next time is does it, get on the freeway. I didn't mean my reply to seem like you know nothing about your car, just that this is one of those things where it's such a goofball problem, everyone I've seen it happen to has done the same thing and overcomplicated the problem.

I think actually your right Ryno. Ive heard that after a certain amount of miles you get a check engine light , and it just has to do with emissons.

I have a busted speedo and that seems to turn on the check engine light. Does your speedo work?
