Ok. So the project is moving smoothly. I've tried to do everything alongside my mechanic so it's moving a bit slow since I don't have all day to work on it (I've got a job you know :D).

But hell, the crankshaft is already together and today we finished installing the pistons. On the pistons, let me tell you those spirolox thingies the Ross pistons come with are sure a beitch to put in.

Anyway, just wanted to keep the site updated and to show off :D my pictures

I'll have a full write up, as complete as possible, on my site soon, as well as the turbo install part.

Hopefully this week, hopefully. Then next week the turbo goes in, I hope I can have the car ready for the 20th since I'm going down to Panama to get some wheels.

Hey Pornflakes, did you see the pistons in the block? Looks really nice.... ahhhhhh I can't wait. I'm getting really anxious. :D Tomorrow the head will be put together.

FINALLY!!!!!! After 4 months and 25 days at the shop the engine is up and running. And it started on the second try... it would have started on the first, but my mechanics assistant put the distributor cap wrong.

Anyway, the motor is running strong and I'm currently loosening it up a bit just to make sure everything is going strong. I'm gonna take it to the dyno just after the first oil change (500 miles) to have a baseline for my turbo "mod"... jeje :D

I'll try and have some kind of write up as soon as possible, but I'm currently on final exams from some of my MBA classes so time is of the essence.

Anway, here are more pics of the build. Enjoy.

Nice... I'm glad you have it up and running now. :)

You should break it in at least 1000 miles with conventional oil and change it before you take it to the dyno.

Agreed on the change oil before dyno time thing. But I'm breaking it in 500-600 miles first, then 1500 miles for the second change and then just normal oil changes (using synt oil). That's what me and my mechanic agreed on. And I'm getting really frustrated of shifting at or below 4k... ahhh.

After the first oil change I'm taking it to the dyno, just a single run to have a baseline. Don't want to put any more unecessary stress on the engine while the break in is in progress.

That's even better. Gives the rings plenty of time to seat properly.

Also, sounds like you have cheap access to a dyno :)

I wouldn't call it cheap. I don't know what dynos charge in the US but down here the ONLY dyno is charging:

- $40 one run- $55 (or was it $50) two runs, but if they do two consecutive runs they don't charge the extra one. It's juts when you have to tinker with stuff and then do another run.- $100 one hour time.

Hopefully I'm gonna be paying $20 for my first run since the owner had a discount meeting thingy about a week back and I convinced him of keeping the price for my first run when the car was out. I told him that once I get my ECU retune working I would surely be a frequent customer.

Now if I could only find someone that does mandrel bents for my intercooler piping here... :(, that's basically the only thing (a part from the break in process) that's keeping me from installing the turbo.
