Anyone tried converting the front brakes to disc?

Would the front brakes off Datsun 1600 (510) fit the front of the NL320?

any other combination that are tried and tested?

I've heard of 720 front disc a straight swap for the 620s with balljoints

I have a J16 (now hard to find, I understand) and a dogleg type 5 speeed along with a  3.889 roadster differential in my 320.  Wasn't too difficult, you just need to round up the right parts, fabricte a trans mount, and have a driveshaft made.  I have seen an NL320 that comes to the local Datsun/Nissan shows with an A14 and 5speed.  Don't really know the details of his conversion except that he has the GX twin SU intake.  None of those brakes will work without modification and fabrication.  I had the 620 disc brake a attending pieces in my garage for years and finally gave up on the project and sold them.  There is someone on this site that is working on a 520 or 521 disc brake conversion.

there's heaps of A14s here in australia than J or E series engines

they are a straight swap on B110 pickups I'll probably save my money if I need to fabricate engine/transmission mounts and drop in CA18DET or SR20DET

Is it true that Datsun B10 front brakes are similar to 320s?

[/quote]Don't know but I wouldn't think so.  They look kind of small and they're 4 bolt.

only the pcd holes would be different but you can do the rear later

I'm thinking of disc brakes off datsun 1600 (510) they are little similar might work with caliper bracket

My first 320 came with an a12 in it and a four speed floor shift. You have to change/fabricate your own engine mounts and cut the sump and weld it shut to get clearance off the stearing. I imagine that with the sump cut you would have to either turn the oil pickup, bend it or shorten it. Take your pick. The a12 box also uses a cable clutch which means changing your clutch pedle or fitting a hydraulic system to the box. I haven't had a look but the a15 has the forward engine mounts I think which should bolt in reasonably easy (again with the sump done). A ca20e would probably be a good way to go. My opinion is get a donor pintara wagon. They're cheap and if it needs rebuilding ie rings and gaskets you can do all this yourself for around $300. I did one a few years back. The twin spark however is costly to replace items such as dizzy cap about ($50) and there are two types of dizzy for them (Italian and Bosch) The Bluebird series three has a twin spark in it that isn't efi. You can also import the ca20s engine which is a carbie type. Pintara's are usually found with an auto trans but if you look you will find a five speed manual somewhere. If you are seriosly thinking about an a12 engine we could probably work something out relatively easy. I just mounted one in my morris minor with plenty of other mods to go. I suggest if you don't have an engine crane to get a hold of one as you will be needing it a lot with any engine conversion. Have fun.
