Engine blocks from factory....

Is anyone else's block painted on the INSIDE from factory?I know some builders do this when building an engine, but do they also come painted factory?

reason being I pulled the sump off, and saw mine is painted, and also has "ATS 1" written in black on the block sump gasket surface????

any idea's?

explain or take pictures!:) I took apart both my motors but didn't notice anything... granted this was the first motor I've ever disassembled, so I don't think I would notice anything different...

take pictures of paint?you wouldn't be able to see much at all, because it's black paint, and the motor is still in the car, in a darkish garage.

I don't see how pictures would help anyway.....it's just a question of wether anyone elses engine blocks have been painted on the inside?

Not paint. Oil coaking. When you get your block cleaned it removes that. I think running some Mobil 1 Delvac 1300 through it would help also. Thats what I'm going to use in mine for the next oilchange or so.

all the ones we have dismantled never seen an internally painted block ..yet

it definately looks like paint....it is black black....like not oily black, and it is on the bottom of the block too ( where the liquid gasket goes ), which looks like brush marks to me.

anyway....any idea on the "ATS 1" thats written on it?
