I got some high temp paint to paint my block (Since it was tanked it has no paint to protect from rust) and noticed that it said to let it air dry for 16 minutes then either bake in a non food oven for 16 min or to run the engine, or the paint might not stick. So I've no way to make it set, it says if it goes more than 8 hours before the heating process it won't take either, that it could even come off just handling the motor.

Anyone know if its necessary? or if I even need this stuff? I forgot what its rated for but its something like 700-800 or so, they also sold something that was like 300-400ish or something less and then normal ****.

Anyone who has painted their blocks, comments?

i used that stuff and didnt let it dry properly. it really does flake off really freaking quick. it sucks too because its ceramic and it gets in your skin and stings like a little bastard. just use some house paint or something. that hi-temp stuff blows.

I've seen people heat up the barrels of motorcycle engines with a blowtorch to get them up to temp for paint application. Keep the blowtorch moving and that should be fine.
