It won't start as in, it cranks but doesn't start. I know it's the fuel pump. I don't think there's any maintenance in the world that can keep that from happening. If it goes, it goes.masticatingcow wrote:ChavezSA, if you don't know what's wrong with your car, why don't you take it to a mechanic? If your legs were paralyzed one day when you woke up, wouldn't you find some way to get to a doctor? Engine knock, chest pain, facial droop or gasket seepage. If you can't fix it, find someone who can.
What exactly is the engine doing besides "not starting"? Do you hear the starter clicking rapidly? Does it click once and then you lose power? Does the engine turn on the starter, but won't idle? Explain if you can.
The KA24DE is a remarkable engine. I think that such severe problems (not including "not starting", which is usually easily fixed) are the exception under 200K miles, not the rule. I just rolled over 226K miles and have had no problems. None.
The key is regular maintenance. Yes, Nissans are incredibly reliable cars, but that does not mean that you can skip oil changes and regularly blow off warming the car up. (Not pointing fingers, just saying, we've all done it.) Ever since I got this car (at 190K, mind you) I have always changed the oil every 2800-3100 miles and let the car warm up for AT LEAST two minutes before driving.
And smokin240, good luck fixing your car. Give Nissan another shot and I promise you won't be disappointed.
