sorry to hear what happened. if it makes you feel better my first ka24e crapped out while i was doing 70 on an interstate, the last owner tryed to do a timing chain, and didnt tighten the oil pump all the way down. and well i lost the pump at 70, on an interstate. and i was poor at the time. i worked my *** off for a few months doing what i could till i had saved enought to buy a junkyard engine. and i got lucky too, the one i pulled only had 62k on the odo. it was wrecked in the rear. from an 89 i do believe. and here it is almost 3 years later, and its still running strong. dont give up. you will get it running again, and it will be faster than before when you do. and hell if you need anything let me know. i will search around locally i know a lot of people who have done a sr swap and need to get rid of an engine or 2. ill see what i can dig up here in louisville.

If your legs were paralyzed one day when you woke up, wouldn't you find some way to get to a doctor? Engine knock, chest pain, facial droop or gasket seepage. If you can't fix it, find someone who can.

What exactly is the engine doing besides "not starting"? Do you hear the starter clicking rapidly? Does it click once and then you lose power? Does the engine turn on the starter, but won't idle? Explain if you can.

The KA24DE is a remarkable engine. I think that such severe problems (not including "not starting", which is usually easily fixed) are the exception under 200K miles, not the rule. I just rolled over 226K miles and have had no problems. None.

The key is regular maintenance. Yes, Nissans are incredibly reliable cars, but that does not mean that you can skip oil changes and regularly blow off warming the car up. (Not pointing fingers, just saying, we've all done it.) Ever since I got this car (at 190K, mind you) I have always changed the oil every 2800-3100 miles and let the car warm up for AT LEAST two minutes before driving.

And smokin240, good luck fixing your car. Give Nissan another shot and I promise you won't be disappointed.
It won't start as in, it cranks but doesn't start. I know it's the fuel pump. I don't think there's any maintenance in the world that can keep that from happening. If it goes, it goes.

I've done regular maintenance as well. Changed the oil every 2500-3500 miles, new plugs, wires, cap & rotor. Some people just experience more trouble than others, mostly depending on their car's application. Just because it's the same motor doesn't mean there aren't problems that one can develop that another of the same kind doesn't.

****, SON. I haven't noticed you lived here in Richmond, VA

theres a good private small junkyard, which usually have bunch of 240's in there.

I usually get alloys from them when mine gets scratched.

2 years ago i got a whole rear end of the car for $250. extremely cheap.

Its called AREA AUTO PARTS. YOU TAKE I-95 NORTH AND EXIT AT #85. THEN FOLLOW SMALL ROADS.

OPEN THE YELLOW PAGES, THEYARE THERE. GIVE THEM A CALL AND ASK FOR DIRECTIONS.====================================================
