im looking for a set of ACL bearings for my rebuild.Every site that i find to order them from doesnt say anything about the bearing grades, like they only come in one size. And on Enjukuracing.com it has the OEM factory bearings but with the grade options.where have you guys got you bearings from?

Only nissan has them listed in grades. All after market brands will be one size fits all. Which is fine. The difference between the thickest and thinnest bearing is really really minor.

Some proponents of higher revving SR's typically suggest purchasing bearings one step looser in OEM grade.

If you do buy ACLs, I would recommend plasti-guaging the bearings to make sure that the clearances will work fine. More than likely they will as I have yet to have rebuilt an SR using ACL bearings that was out of clearance. The only time that would happen is if there was damage to the crank and main journals

There has to be between 2 and 3 thousandths of clearance between the crank and the inside of the barrings. You must fully torque the barrings in the rods and the mains then check for clearance in 3 places both outsides and in the middle, then check everywhere on the crank! I have seen this on Horse Power TV many times over the years. Somebody Please correct me if Im wrong.

If you're going to be doing stuff that's highly technical like this, I really really suggest you take a few days and read the service manual's EM section afew times. Primarily the entire section on clearance checking and assembly of the bottom end. You really shouldn't expect these answers to be given to you when they're wrapped up very neatly in a service manual for you.

I will give you the bearing clearance, which is hidden in the Service Data at the end of the EM section.

Main bearing Clearance:Standard .004-.022mm (.0008-.0009in)Limit .05mm (.0020in) replace if exceeds limit

Connecting Rod Bearing ClearanceStandard .020-.045mm (.0008-.0015in)Limit .65mm (.0256in) replace if exceeds limit.

If you do the plasti-gauge method, so long as you don't exceed the given limit, you would be all right. It would be best if the plastiguage showed you wee in the standard zone.
