Engine bay color?

Hi. I am looking at buying a m45 and I noticed the engine bay color is different from the body color. I first thought the car may have been repainted but then I noticed it on other m45s. Is this a normal thing?

My car is an 06 M35, and it looks similar. The cover over the engine is the same, but I have a lot more plastic on the sides covering things up.

looking for m45s on craigslist huh? haha. I looked at that same ad. that one is a little iffy to me, The posting doesnt list the mileage which usually means its got a lot. That car also might have a salvage title.The rear fender is a way diffrent gray than the rest of the car, you can see it in every pic. I would proceed with caution on this one...

it is absolutely normal. its an underhood color. most nissan's and infiniti's use an underhood color instead of the normal base coat. dont ask me why, but this is how it is.
