take it to the dealer as the drive train is still under warranty. without hearing the noise you describe we could guess all day long and not get it right.

I had a LOUD pinging one morning coming from the engine. Sounded like a push rod was beating on the valve cover!!! By the time I got it to the dealership, the noise had gone away.Left it there and they heard it the next AM. It was the timing chain tensioner.

Yeah, you need to get it to the dealer. Call the dealer and discuss with the service advisor. They might want you to get it towed there.

I'd not worry about fixing it on your own until you have to. If its under warranty use that warranty.

ever figure out what this was? My car makes a noise like the one youve described, i describe it as a loose heat shield type sound that rattles against the exhaust piping. Once i get going it goes away, its really audible when say i pull up to a drive through window. Other then that it runs and idles smooth(98k on the clock).

no i havent gotten the car to the dealer ive been keepin it parked as much as possible but just like you said it is very audible when i pull up to like a drive through or park it in my garage but only at idle it makes the sound . after i step on the throttle the littles bit it stops. i think you may be right it could be a loose heat shield liek you said but my noise is a very deep sound like it comin from inside the block. im not really worried it it blows up casue i have a warranty but im gonna try to get the car to the dealer and diegnosed this week

i will update you with what they find... thanks
