The car is a 98 240sx base model with 190K miles. The "engine control" fuse is blown. The "service engine soon" light is on. The car won't idle on intitial start-up. Once it is warm it idles fine. If I replace the fuse, it idles fine, but will blow again the next day. The light stays on.
I pulled the codes from the ECM, which point to several engine bay items such as the O2 sensor, Idle Speed control IACV/AAC, knock sensor, EGR, etc. If I delete the codes and replace the fuse, all is well for a day. Then the light comes back on and the fuse is blown.
In my mind, the fuse is causing the fault codes and the light.
Can the failure of a single component cause this problem? grounding? harness? Is there something I am missing?
