I was wondering if anyone has ever done a complete bushing set. Having a 15 year old car makes me want to do it completly, seeing as how it is all original. Other than time consuming, is there any major problems? Is it going to be worth it or should I just replace certain bushings?

Here is the link to Courtesy Parts...http://www.courtesyparts.com/M...8106G

Thanks a lot.

I did the set on my car, but I have access to a full service auto shop which is what you'll need(basically)

The rear spindle assy("uprights") have three bushings that are to be burnt/cut out, and and rear lower control arm has two bushings spaced very far apart, but in line with one another. A little tricky but still do-able at a shop. Most of the bushes are easy. Good car to learn how to do this stuff on, but if there is any doubt, then pay a shop to do it.

The instructions are spot on, just pay close attention.

Courtesy shipped the wrong front control arm bushings(they sent s14 front bushings instead) and we ended up waiting over two weeks for Courtesy and Energy Suspension to stop pointing fingers at one another and just send us some damn bushings. Finally, ES sent us some, UPS ground which took a week.

In the meantime, I called ES from my work and had some front control arm bushings sent UPS next day and then a week later, the extra set finally showed up from ES.

Courtesy screwed us and made us wait, and ES wasn't interested in fixing Courtesy's foul-up, so we had to use another means to get the car back on the road. Just a word of caution, nothing ever goes as planned.

I've got a table clamp, torch and jacks. I don't have a lift........yet.

Still wondering if I should bother with the whole job or just replace the important ones. Any opinions?

i did this not too long ago. hardest part was getting the rear suspension all pieced back together. took me about a week working off and on to finish. i also installed new ball joints front and got new rear lower arms with new ball joints. i made my own press with a 12 ton bottle jack (theres pictures of it somewhere around here)

i did a set on a friends car. the only ones i could not get out were the rear lower control arm bushings. i was at my shop with all the tools/equipment and they just would not come out. i could have gotten them out but the arms were trying to bend. be carefull to not bend any parts.

For all concerned: when in doubt or danger of bending the metal control arm from which you are trying to remove the old bushing/sleeve, CUT the metal sleeve insert, to relieve load.

Anybody ever done it on a S14? How long does it take to do the whole thing? I wanna do it the same time I replace the struts.

The job could take up to a whole day if you're doing it yourself(at home, small tools, etc). Remember that the car needs to be aligned after you pull all these parts, so give yourself one free day to do the work, and then plan on getting the car re-aligned afterwards.

Friend got air tools and all, except a lift. Thanks for the down time. Hopefully doesn't take longer than that.
