Theres a few ways to go about it i think but i did this:

Attached to the header, i left the movable metal piping that goes to the AIV box (or whatever its really called) with a small piece of hose still attached at the end of that. Then I just plugged it with a bolt.

I can but id need a bigger bolt that will screw into header. At the time that was the biggest bolt I could find and it fit pefectly into the hose. I guess if i find the right size later, i will plug the header directly for a cleaner look. I will try to get better pics later.

There is a write up on how to remove AIV and plugging what is left but i cant seem to find it right now. Just plug the header, intake and two hoses that connected to the aiv. Car runs fine without it, maybe youll just smell emissions more at cold start-up since the purpose of the aiv is to warm up the cat sooner. Your idle may actually get a little better. Otherwise there should be no check engine lights or smoke coming from exhaust. The only reason smoke would come out of your exhaust would be from installing new headers/exhaust in which you touch the inside of these parts with dirty hands and its just coming out in the form of smoke. I dont know if smoke comes out when you remove the rest of emissions, but if you're in florida then it may not b a big deal

I removed all of that too, there is a write up on removing the aiv, but its pretty straight forward, zer...age=1. Just remove everything plug up the pipe on the header and plug up all the vacuum lines, remove you charcol chanister while you are there, same thing just remove and plug lines. I have a base model so no check engine light, it actually ran better after I removed all the emissions stuff, not any more horsepower, just less hesitation.

I hate cluttered engine bays, here are some before and after pics

the only one I heard that cause a code is egr sensor that can be fixxed with a 1/4 resistor. But mine has not threw a code for it. I too am too cheap to get the nismo iav plug for 15+ shipping. Just plug it up like mentioned. Cant tell you if it drove different cause it sat for a year b4 I fixxed another prob. (H.G)

Get a 3" exhaust....0 backpressure equals almostlittle to none hot exhaust gasses through the egr system, and get rid of the CAT. Save yourself the time from removal of equipment.
