emmisions question

i've searched already so maybe someone can give me a straight forward answer. i have a 89 240sx and i'm getting a 97-98 engine and trans. when i go for emmisions check will they already know its a 89 240sx and not check ecu?

getting and have is 2 different thing, if it's a sr20det, good luck on passing emission legally

if it's from a car that exist in the US it wouldn't make a difference because you'll still pass smog assuming that the engine will pass

basically i want to know if they will check for a obII

i believe that regardless whether your car is going to be obd-1 or obd-II at time of emmisions testing they will test your car as obd-1. I asked the same question to the guy testing my car as my car is a 95 with obd-II and he said that when he types the info on the computer it will come up as obd-1 and that is what they will test.
