Today I took my car to a local garage where I know a couple employees, and had them do a emissions "training run" for free, since I have to pass emissions in my county (Coweta County, GA) in June. The only emissions device I have is a cat, so of course, I failed. However, I only failed by a tiny margin. The limit of hydrocarbons in the exhaust (unburnt gas) is 132ppm...I blew 138ppm. If I get an AFC, or some other fuel controller, and lean it out just a hair, I think I'll pass. Opinions?

Leaning it out should do the trick, or keep it off boost.

I get to run mine in a few months and I am dreading what kind of numbers it will post. I think the hydrocarbon limit in Ohio is 950 ppm, so if you are blowing high 130's I should be ok then.

Go to your local parts store and get a bottle of some stuff that gaurantee's that you will pass. If your laws are like Ohio's, a 20 percent in improvement will pass you, even if you go over the legal limit.

Yes, that would probably do it. Also, im not sure exactly how they do things but if you could bump up your idle while still being acceptable to their standards then your engine should run more efficiently. Not sure how much difference a couple hundred rpms would make but it definately will help a bit.
