I need a cheap cat to go on for my test tipe, i need to go smog. A friend said smucks sells a universal for like 40 bucks. I got a 3 inch exhaust, anyone recommend a cheap, working cat? And do junkyards sell them?

Under federal law junkyards are not allowed to sell cats. Used cats in general cannot be sold legally unless for scrap. You can buy a cheap cat, I would suggest 2 or 2.5 inch and have the proper flanges welded.

Or just try the wtb section, because someone will be willing to sell one I'm sure.

napa sells ones for obd1 240s for about 90 buks. check your local laws though. i know california just changed laws. you know need a obd2 certified and obd1 certified cats. and yes, you cannot sell a used cat. find someone selling one, or put a new one on and lose .5 horse power

also when you install the cap put it close to the firewall, the hotter it gets the better it will work, so warm your car up and if your really worried about passing change the oil, fuel filter, spark plugs, and run chevron with techron lolthats what i plan to do.And i thought cats were beneficial to KA performance
