i've been thinking about this alot, and was wonderin if someone could give me some answers, i don't understand how the how hell emissions work,

from basic logic, big engine = uses more gas= creates more exhaust = higher emissions output, right??

so what i don't get is how a small engine with a small turbo, running at stock boost,7 psi ( which is low) , like the sr20det not be able to pass emissions, while there are trucks like the silverado which come with 8.1 L (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) engines, that are still able to pass emissions

anybody know why?

Side note:

Yes, it's true there are different classes.

A good example is how Dodge uses the PT Cruiser calling it part of the truck lineup to help lower the overall Dodge truck emission rating. With such vehicles being labeled whatever the company wants, they can manipulate the gov't standards... putting big brutish engines in the real trucks, and keep the number the gov't looks at(the overall emissions of a given lineup) in line with standards.

When you see ads/articles about longest running, best selling, cleanest, whatever etc.. there are usually scapegoat vehicles such as PT cruiser in the lineup to manipulate the numbers.

It also has to do with how clean they burn fuels. if they dont do a good job and pump oout tons of the dirty stuff, then they wont pass.

you're right, yashin. Let me quote the great mayor of Charlotte, NC about pollution.

"Why should we be making such an effort? If other towns don't, which they aren't, that will just float over here and keep the pollution going."

-Pat McCrory, Mayor of Charlotte, NC

This is the same assclown who pushed and pushed the nba to let Rob Johnson be the new owner of the NBA team here instead of Larry Bird.
