My 1998 240sx has been throwing an Evap leak code for the past 2 years and I never got around to fixing it. A few months ago I found a small crack in an evap hose that goes to the intake. I repairs the crack but the code didn't go away. So I looked near the evap canister and found that the vent valve that connects the fuel tank vapor outlet to the carbon canister inlet had been broken (mad of cheap plastic, has 4 valves on it, 2 of which were broken off). My question is that assuming that this is the problem, because I can't find any other problems (vent valve is fully operational, no more cracks in piping, everything is routed correctly), can I cap off the evap canister end for a temporary fix until I can get my hands on an OEM valve? Will this technically cause the system to not throw codes since there should be a "leak" anymore? I just need to pass emissions ASAP or my insurance company could temporarily drop me.

Fixing it and resetting the code with a scanner or disconnecting the battery is the only thing that will clear the code.

Run down to autozone or where ever you can get you code scan for free, lots of places can check for free, write down the code or codes and google it. The car runs most of the evap test for them. So if the car says it doesn't pass, then it won't pass.
An old car like mind they'll test it manually and charge me extra :bs:

My guess is no it won't work.
