so everything is good EXCEPT the NOx. i have changed the cat and it appears to be functioning fine. i am getting ready to take the EGR valve off and clean it but is there anything else i should check before i go through that? what about the O2 sensor? thanks in advance

how far off is it?

NOx problems are usually the result of a malfunctioning EGR valve.

EGR does help NOx, but not by a LOT. If you're off by 1000+, there's something else wrong.

Check your timing, if it's even advanced a bit, your NOx will skyrocket. Also, try checking your pistons for carbon deposits (by looking down the spark plug hole).

Put your timing back to spec. You will likely pass.

I think mine was 3* off and it failed by over 1500ppm.

Yep, retard the timing towards the lower end of the limits and clean the EGR still as well as making sure the vac line from the bpt to the egr is still intact and not collapsing under vacuum. You pay each time you test, so make sure you pass next time.
