emissions problem 95 G20

I have a 95 G20. Recently the emissions light came on. I put on a new AC compressor on a few weeks ago. I notice the engine wants to surge and seems to really lose power when I turn the AC on. So that I do not spend alot of money trying to find the problem I am hoping someone might have a quick suggestion.

We need to know what "code" is being thrown before we can move forward. We can guess and assume all day long, but the code will give us the exact reason and then we can fix the issue. Its an OBDII car, take a trip to your local auto parts store and have them check for the code.

I did as you said and took car to Advance auto and they put the scanner on the system.

I t said there is a malfunction. It is two things. 1. Auxiliary emission control and #2 it said "knock sensor 1. circuit malfunction. Bank 1 or 1 sensor. Do you know what this means? Thanks

Knock sensor probably needs to be replaced for one. The other I'm not quite sure. Do you know what the code # was?
