hey fellas,I'm getting an RB20DET soon and I'd like to know how I can get around the emission laws here in Georgia. If there is any way to pass with a turbo'd motor, I'd like to know. If not, what can I do? thanks.

Just go to a cheap place that won't care, like Pablo's Emissions Testing.

Or somplace that takes bribes. Hey, I just noticed I have over 300 posts! Yay me!

I didnt know anywhere in GA had emissions? They dont have them here in columbia cnty (augusta area). Just go to the tag office, show them your insurance, drivers license, pay the outrageous fee, and walk away with your plate.

What year is your car? Hopefully not a 96 or newer. If it is pre-OBDII it should pass fine as long as they don't care it has the wrong motor.

It's a '95.

I had to get emissions testing done when I registered my car after I bought it..not sure when I need to get emissions done again though.

95's in Atlanta only have to pass visual and sniffer so you should be able to pass it. Dennis from unstable should know more about the numbers it will put out, but if it runs well, it should pass sniffer.

Oh yeah, you have to pass emissions every year.

sup bro...yeah i already talked to Denis at unstable hybrids. He just reffered me to talk to one of the fulltime guys, which I will probably do soon, considering i may get my RB20 from them.

You go to Tech also?

For the record Floyd County doesn't have emissions either.

Ya, I go to tech, buy/sell cars, fix roofs and drywall, and work on cars on the side. Plus I've got my motor set coming from daunttless. Hope everything works out with the 20 for you. I know someone else who might be interested in that swap and I would love to hear how it goes.

*edit*For now it is mainly the metro area that has to passs emissions like (counties): Fayette, Clayton,Coweta, Dekalb, Fulton, basically if you are within ~45 minutes of Atlanta

Yep. SR(red top) all the way. Coming in on Daunttless' first shipment. Would have been fun to do something more unique with more power, but I don't have a lot of time or money laying around right now. Maybe once I'm out of school.

Paulding requires emissions Will, I'm working out of one in Hiram right now. Carrollton doesnt require emissions, thats where mines registered at. Hey perpetual gyro, how much is your swap gonna run? i was debating on the RB20.

The motor costs about $2,000, which is like $1,000 cheaper than the black top SR for the s14 (about the same cost as the redtop though). Installation is only $100 more than what it would be for the SR.

So basically, i'm getting 2 more pistons (inline 6) for cheaper than an SR. Considering how many people have the SR, I'd prefer to be a little more original..plus it's nice to say that you have a skyline motor, and watch people's reactions. :)

I am debating between Afterdark, and Unstable doing my swap, Dauntless seems to know everything about these cars, and would give great technical assistance if he does the swap, unstable, not too sure of. Plus Unstable has a downtime of your car for almost a month it says, Dauntless says about 4 days. Unstables 1.5 hrs away, Afterdark, 12 hrs away.

I'll probably have Dauntless do mine. I'm thinking of the RB20 too, I'm wanting about 350 hp, how much does the rb20 come with stock?

RB20 puts down the same HP at the crank as the SR; 210 stock. But from what people tell me, the RB is more efficient at putting the power down to the wheels.
