If you can find a friend or some one that will let you use there address and register the car there you will not have to smog it until you sell it. You may have to smog it when you re register it into that zip code but that would be a one time thing. You wont get past the a** hole cop that wants to look under your hood or under you car to see your exhaust and he may still send you to the ref and give you a fix it ticket. So maybe you keep your stock parts and swap them back if this happens. Just letting you know of this minor loop hole.
