I've got a 1991 Q45, and was wondering about bypassing some of the emission control stuff.

First reason, is that the Vacuum Line going to the Carbon Canister is broken. (The line itself is good, but the piece that the hose connects to on the canister is broken, and I don't want to replace the canister, as the car seems to run ok like this).

While trouble shooting why my car was running rich, Hard Starting, Torque Converter not locking up, I disconnect some of the Emission stuff to see if that would make a difference. So, I unhooked the connectors to the EGR Control Solenoid Valve, and Canister Control Solenoid Valve (probably makes no difference as the Vacuum Line is not hooked up).

So, my questions, with the above Disconnected, will it make any difference in Power, Fuel Economy, and or Reliability?

Personally, I'm not concerned about the Emissions, and I do not have to pass any tests. Main goal, is to see if anything will increase the efficiency and or reliability of the motor.

Thanks,
Vin

removing carbon canister and plugging lines will make no difference in the way car runs.
Disconnecting EGR will cause combustion temps to rise and WILL affect the way the engine operates.

Obviously, doing either is illegal.

Yes, besides the above, it will get less mpg.

Unless you know a whole lot more than the Nissan engineers, the bes bet is to restore it to as new condition after you replace the timing chain guides.
