emission confusion

I just had an sr20det swap and need new calalytic converter. what type do I buy to fit a 3'' cat back exhaust and still pass emissions. See, I bought the car and had not done my emissions. As you know, I won't be able to get my tag if emissions fail. Help please.

Not sure what the emissions testing is like over there, but if there's a visual check, you're going to fail. If you've just got the sniffer, there is hope. You've got a cat-back exhaust...as in after the catalytic converter. So you'll want to replace the test pipe or catalytic converter that's sitting before your cat-back. Many locals in my area use two of the oem catalytics and do what they can like put a towel over the air filter to reduce the emissions numbers enough to barely pass. You'll probably have trouble with the NOx if that's looked at in your area.
