I have a 240SX Nissan Convertible. Recently, my brake lights were not working but my emergency lights were. I took it to get it fixed. Now my brake lights work but my emergency lights are always on!! Sometimes they turn off on their own (maybe for a couple of seconds) but they keep on turning on. My battery has been dead for several days now. Do I need a new fuse? Is it something else that I need to look for? I was told the main problem is underneath my dashboard. Is this true? HHHHEEEELLLLPPPPP!!!

I see a volt meter and many, many hours of tracing in your future. Electrical problems are maddening by nature. You must start ruling everything out one by one but even that might not solve the problem. If you have a "comprimised" wire/fuse/relay/etc. it may show as working but not under certain loads.

If you're up to it get the wiring diagram for this beast and hit the easy stuff first; you might get lucky. If you're not up to it find a compitent mechanic that will go easy on you like give you a break on price if it exeeds x-number of hours to find the problem.

Others on this forum might have had similar experiences and be of more help.

Good luck!

If I were you, I'd do these 2 things first.

1. Remove all the plastic covers inside of your trunk and look for any damaged wires.

2. Remove instrument panel housing and inspect switches, wires and connectors. 7-10 screws are holding instrument panel housing, so it won't take very long. You will have to remove kick panel and scuff plate.

For one thing did you try to just disconnect the Emg Light switch to see if it stopped it?
