Emergency Broadcast System

Was I just hearing things an hour ago? I was driving over to WalMart and the Emergency Broadcast System started to come over my stock Bose radio. What was weird to me, I was listening to XM radio at the time.

We do have a winter weather warning in our area, but never had heard a emergency broadcast for one like we do for tornados.

I ask the community, was I hearing things or is the Rogue audio system set up to interrupt and switch the NOAA Emergency Broadcast channel?

XM is mandated by the FCC to participate in the EBS. You will periodically hear tests of the EBS as well as real alerts that will advise you to tune to channel 247 which is the 24/7 Emergency Information channel.

This is strictly a function of Sirus/XM Satellite Radio and does not have anything to do with Nissan or the Rogue. Even if you have a portable XM radio or stream over the Internet, you will still hear the EBS interruptions when necessary or for testing.
