I just recently got a car wash and ever since then my emergency brake indicator light on the dashboard will not turn off. The emergency brake is definitely not on. I've moved it up and down several times and that doesn't help. I don't notice any difficulty driving or the smell of burning brakes. The indicator light does periodically turn off but 90% of the time it is on.

Any ideas for a quick self fix?

I know with the newer Altimas if the light is on and stays on it is because of low brake fluid. I would check that first. The car wash thing may be a coincidence. Then again it may not be.

Yes, low brake fluid will trigger the brake indicator on Pathfinders as well.

Thanks a lot. That did the trick. Now hopefully there isn't a leak somewhere. I have been smelling something weird (like a burning oil smell) when I get out of the car. Maybe that's brake fluid. I'll keep an eye on the level.

Definitely keep an eye on all your levels. When it happened on my Altima Coupe, it was because they didn't fill it correctly from the factory. It never leaked again after they checked it. Hopefully that will be the case for you as well!
