Sup guys, Does anyone have experience with the OBD1 consult cables? I recently bought one for fairly cheap but I'm having trouble getting to communicate with my ECU. I've set my ports corectly but when I run a scan or try to find the ECU, I get nothing!!??

Thanks in Adv. for any knowledge on the subject!!

I had trouble communicating with the ecu, but I think my problem was the usb/serial converter. Also, I was very displeased with the connector to the OBD port. I have to resolder everything! You can email Jason, the seller of Emance: [email protected]

what year is your car? the emance cable is bad news. Jason has a very very bad reputation. his cable is just a do it yourself thing he copied off someone. look up consult in tutorials in my signature. if your laptop does not have serial port that multiplies the troubles.

that picture in itself is a good reason why its better to stick to non-backyard cables. im really amazed why people spend $66USD on an emance job, when for a whole $5 more (around $71USD delivered from ecutalk) you can get :

as for your original problem, your first point of call should be whoever you bought it from. but the common problems are usb/serial converters (try a laptop with serial port), followed by the interface itself not working (the emance, and moreso the chinese box ones, often come DOA). less common causes would be an issue with your car and its wiring to consult port, and user error (i.e. you dont know what com port your usb/serial converter is on and are just trying to connect to COM1 rather than the correct port).
