Hello everyone. In the near future, I will be buying a 240sx with an sr20det swap. I plan on modifying it a decent amount. I plan on putting on a gt30r twin scroll. Of corse the motor will be built. I want to make around 450 hp on 93 and in the upper ends of 500 on race. My question has to deal with EM. I come mostly from Subarus where whenever we would modify our cars, we would simply reflash the stock ECU. After reading on the forums for a while, I have learned that lots of people get stand alone EM for high HP applications. Why is it that you need stand alone. What stops you from just reflashing the stock ECU. Also, what would the ideal EM be for my applications.

Nothing stops us from reflashing. Its just limited in power from the MAF size. With the Z32 MAF you can get up to 550whp. Which should be fine with the 30R cause ive never seen one put out more than that. MAP Standalone is better though for the simple fact, you get to eliminate the MAF which takes out restriction in the intake piping. For higher HP (over 500) there are moderate gains with going to a standalone over the stock ECU reflash.

Ahhh I see. So what about piggyback ECU then. And if I am running high hp, would I have to upgrade the MAP?

Go ROM Tune if your just doing a GT30R. You can get all the power you want from that setup.
