Funny, just as I got to work this afternoon and was looking for the corporate number, my phone rings. Finance guy said he did some "investigation". Infiniti suddenly has my cancellation form and I should have a check in the mail by May 3rd. I still don't understand what the hold up was, but that's enough to keep me quiet until then.

I really believe either he didn't really submit the form until I started harassing him about it, or Infiniti doesn't process the cancellation until after they send out the warranty booklet, but I just want my money back. Supposedly that is happening soon. I'll probably call consumer affairs and follow up anyway.

May 3rd? Why isn't it in the mail now? That's still ridiculous man.

The story just got better...

I just got off the phone with consumer affairs and was informed that my warranty is still active and that there is no cancellation submitted. I should be expecting a call from regional next week.

Somebody is gonna have some explaining to do :tisk:

Call your credit card company and tell them you canceled the warranty on whatever date and the dealer is giving you the runaround. Do a chargeback with the credit card company and your money should be back in no time and you can go ahead and purchase the warranty elsewhere and save that $$$.

I'd still call the BBB and let them know of your experience.

This will take awhile for you to get your money back. Sounds like sales guy did not want to lose his commission on warranty sale and consequently did nothing. In retrospect, you should have called the warranty people yourself - especially in FL where these warranties are "Fair Traded" (you pay MSRP at all dealers - why I don't know as they obviously deal on the vehicle's price). You do NOT have to buy an after-market warranty in FL for a FL vehicle. These warranties are competitively priced from all other US dealers - just haggle with them. It's just a piece of paper they sell you...Anyway, good luck with getting your money back. Never ever trust a phone call (to a dealer's salesman) to receive a refund. Go in person and get the necessary paperwork canceling your warranty. Because without the paperwork you really are screwed, no matter what the salesman says. No paperwork for cancellation = no refund. Always get the paperwork!

I actually did call Infiniti first and they told me because it was so soon, it would be easiest if I went back to the dealership. I got in the car, drove up there and did the cancellation in person at the dealership and have a signed piece of paper from Feb 17th stating so... this is why I got a prompt phone call from the regional rep. I haven't had a chance to call him back yet, but I'll update as the story unfolds. According the the voicemail I got, he called the finance manager, who is now supposed to handle it personally.

... And I'd rather have no warranty than an aftermarket (too many middle-men involved). My alternative is to buy a manufacturer warranty extension from an out-of-state dealership with flexibility on their pricing.

You should be OK then. I cancelled the GM aftermarket Major Guard warranty on a Vette recently. It was very competitively priced (around $1800 for 7 yrs/100K coverage and no deductible) if you bought it before 24K/2 yrs from new. GM underwrites Major Guard warranties. I bought it from a dealer in Massachusetts and I live in NC. Of course there are a zillion GM dealers and only a small number of Infiniti dealers (who I assume underwrite the "Elite" warranty). Generic aftermarket warranties tend to be worthless.

Damn I wish I would have thought of this a while ago. It would have at least saved me a few bucks in interest. I just submit my VISA dispute today amidst many many calls between regional consumer affairs mgr, the dealership finance mgr, the dealership accountant & corporate person responsible for cancellations.

Cliffs notes: I turned the cancellation form in mid Feb. It sat at the dealership & wasn't submitted until mid APRIL... and that's ONLY because I called repeatedly to find out what was going on. Now that corporate is involved, I am supposed to expect a check to be in my hands in a week or 2.

Either someone wasn't doing their job or they are a bunch of F'n crooks and someone was doing exactly their job. As much as I love their service department, I'm pretty disgusted by this whole finance department situation.

well I was just linked to this thread and i have to add my 2 cents lol

I just bought a 06 M45 with 74k it has extended warranty til 100k or 18mths left and he paid only 899 for the 40k/4yr.. well needless to say I took it in for oil change and to transfer warranty and they are telling me that there is a $50 fee and possibility of $350 inspection fee if the maintaince records arent enough.. I was told by the dealer that the 60k service was done.. good thing.. but they told me to add warranty once this one was over would cost me 3k for 2yr/25k warranty. so my question is how the h3ll did he get 4yr/40k for $899???

I will be calling Daniella too lol

The price goes up depending on what mileage the car has at the time of the warranty purchase. So if you buy it at 30k, it'll be cheaper obviously than buying it at 50k. But still...

Since your car still has warranty until 100k, this means he bought the warranty at or after 60k. I got mine at 55k and paid $1,500 if I recall. And that was a steal compared to my dealer who wanted like $2,300. I got the 36k/36mo one.

I understand it goes up.. but 3k for 2yrs/25k when he paid $900 for 4yrs/40k for 3K I should get atleast 3yr/36k if not 4yr/48k

Did you talk to Daniella yet? Or Courtney? It's pretty safe to assume they'll beat that price. My local dealer wanted $800 more than Daniella.
