Eliminate The Resonator on "91 240SX?

I have a stock 1991 240SX and the resonator is rusted out. I was thinking about just eliminating it with a piece of pipe and wondering how the car would sound and perform without the resonator. Has anyone tried doing this? What happened?

It will be just fine. I had to do the same thing on my 91...it will sound better than it does now, you have major exhaust leakage. When you fix it with a straight pipe, it will sound better and run just fine.
