Any thoughts on this? I know a dual setup can be had for around $400. I just figure this would be great for when you need some top end, but then want to go back to the quiet exhaust.

More noise, more expense, more vibration, more complication, no more power than stock.

Now, do you have anything worthwhile to contribute to the thread.. i personally like the idea of having the option to listen to the VH45 untamed

Why exactly do you say that?

There's only more noise when its opened up. Which it only takes about 4-5 seconds for it to fully open or close.

And im sure this would net more power on the top end. ITs cheaper than putting together an entire exhaust system.

Especially if you do it between cats and precats.

Good idea, let that V8 roar. Exaust cutouts are cool and easy to install, I would like to hear it.

This kind of drives me nuts. I mean it's your car and all but................................It's a Q for crying out loud. It's not a race car. Q's are meant to be classy. I see a lot of people taking these cars and trying to make them what they are not intended for. If you ask me, it's ruining the whole point of having a Q.

Yeah, probably sounds like a beater with no exhaust.

Exhaust cutouts are for turbo or supercharged cars. Theres no point for one on a Q. 400 dollars for maybe 3 top end HP, doesn't sound like a good investment to me.

Yeah, me too. I stay as quiet as I can while I'm reading about the 18" and 19" wheels with all the cool camber, etc. Pop-chargers, exhaust cutouts ... just not luxury sports sedan accessories, in my opinion. But hey, as the saying goes, opinions are like azzholes.

If a guy has no respect for the all the refinement and engineering that went into making the car what it is, I have no problem with him treating it like a piece-o-crap muscle car. Reminds me of what'd you'd do to an old Trans-Am.

Edit: In fact, I'd much prefer hearing the quiet whine of a supercharger under the hood of a Q45.

I had dual 3" electronic cutouts on my 2000 T/A. Flip of the switch and heads would spin. It is great for letting people know they are going to slow in the fast lane, scaring little kids, or just going deaf.Granted on my header equipped heads/cam Trans am it gave me about 10hp up top but it was LOUD and RAW.

I will stick to a custom exhaust system on the Q but they are fun. I would never knock someone for doing it.

I did end up selling them. After a while even the most expensive ones will leak

Which is why I almost prefer the cheaper ones that have the plate you take off... just have a bunch of gaskets and such

LOL I have the cut outs on my '70 LeMans and it has a 402 Big Block in it.

It is a lot of fun, but I love getting back in my Q and having it be quiet.

I thought the same thing too...BUT the first time I went under the car to put them back on I realized...man THIS SUCKS. Order was placed the following day for the electronic ones.

Well thats why I thought up the electronic cutout idea. I dont want to replace the factory muffler or all the piping. I like it how it is, I think it should be quiet. Although for some extra top end, it wouldnt hurt to have a device that would allow the exhaust to be open, then once done running the car, close it back to factory sound.

Thats where im coming from. And the Q isnt 100% classy, it has some sportyness to it. Any sedan that has Front and Rear Strut Tower bars out of the factory is going for a sporty tone.
