Intermittently my 95 Maxima, 5-speed won't start. The car will try turn over like it will start but it doesn't. When this happens, the dash lights do not come on when I put in the key, although it beeps and lights up the key part. The car will work fine for days and then all of sudden this will happen.

Mechanic said a bad crankshaft sensor messed up some electrical parts and he supposedly fixed the wiring and it worked for like a couple of weeks but now I am having the same problem. Replaced the starter and crankshaft sensor and had the fuel pump looked at and all those parts should be fine. Now, the car did stall out a couple of times and lost power while driving, where before once it started it was fine.

Could it be related to an ignition switch or did he not fixed the wiring correctly? Any other possibilities I should consider or ask the mechanic to look at. The mechanic is my friend, is this something I should take to someone who specializes in Nissans. Thanks

Welcome to NICO.

I'm assuming that your mechanic has verified the battery and alternator are in good condition. Did he check/replace the spark plugs?

When was the last time you replace the fuel filter (located on firewall, near brake booster)? Your mechanic should be able to check the condition/output of the Ignition Switch.
