Here is the story..A while back I had installed a radio into my dash just for some tunage for when I'm driving around..Well After I had installed the radio I noticed my dashlights were always at a constant brightness. That made me think my dimmer knob had shorted out and so I took it out and didn't bother with it.

Now..I had to take the radio out to see if I could get the Cd Player working again and I turned on the headlights and such Boom No dash lights,so I started searching the fuse's to see if the fuse was blown. Nothing..Then I got the wild idea to try my dimmer knob again..

As soon as I hooked it back up it works..My question is..Could something in the radio be shorting out the dash lights?

The illumination circuit runs through the radio. It's usually an orange wire. By cutting that wire the dash lights no longer work.

I would guess the radio then. It should allow the dash lights to remain normal while it itself might have a night/day mode. Still it needs the ILL wire to complete the circuit.

I say you should check out the wiring of the CD player... if wires got spliced it could be grounding out causing the CD player not to work and maybe ur light problem

Well I spent all of this morning Under the dash of my truck following my wires and suck They had snipped the Positive Off of the Factory cable and hooked it directly to the stereo and grounded it using the Cigarette lighter .So I ask.

Does anyone have The Wire Diagram for the radio and cigarette lighter?

89 should be close to the 93. Check NICOs FSM collection. Check out the 93 Pathfinder FSM, the truck is lumped in there.

Do not share grounds take it to a chassis, more electrical problems are ground related than anything. Take the radio to chassis ground you can tie it to the bolts on the frame work that hold plastic cover that is below radio. The color code is on any plug adapter that you get at wal mart. Standard pretty much email me i think I have one and can email it to you if needed. [email protected] email me I will type up the one I have and shoot it back
