I had an interesting issue happen today.I was driving down the highway, my stereo was on, and I flicked on my lights. All of the electronics in the car died for a split second, i.e. stereo, cruise control, speedo, then came right back on.

I turned off my lights and flicked them on and the same thing happened.

Once I got back into AA, I flicked my lights on and off, and nothing happened, but about 5 times, when I pushed on the brake pedal, the electronics died again.

I checked the battery connections (but I doubted that would be it), and they were fine.

Anyone have an idea what's wrong?

I didn't get a LOT of time to play around with it, but when the stereo was pretty quiet, it didn't happen.

Oh, and the engine didn't die, just the electronics.

It sounds like it is only doing it when there is a higher load on the charging system. So, check for loose or bad connections on the alternator, check the fuses(highly unlikely but it only takes a second, so what the heck), and if all seems good there have the alt and battery tested.

If any of that doesn't pin point the problem start checkning the wiring for spots where the insulation has worn off.

Good luck
