So here is the story...bought my car last year its a 91' 240sx with the sr...a wek ago i dove out to my buddies house and this is where it happened. When i was leaving my house a went to start my car..it made a spark noise right by the battery in the trunk....i dint think to mush of it at the time it wasn't visual or anything and it didn't seem too bad. Drove out to my buddies house it ran fine the whole way. As i was going to leave i went to start it and same thing happened, i turned the key, battery or close to it sparked and boom no power to anything.....So here it sits..please comment. At this point anything will help. thanks

Not really much to go on, TBH. Worst case from the sound of it is that something arced in the battery. Check your cables to see if there was any melting done near the terminals. If there is, you will need to check the alternator as well. A lot of times, a battery that has a serious bad short (think something metal connected the terminal clamps), the alternator fries as well AND you will wind up with lots of melted spots inside the wiring harness. That's still worst case scenario, though. Just check it out, take good note as to what actually happened. And more than likely, being that it's electrical in nature, and it could be pretty complex in nature, I would recommend taking it to someone that has electrical experience. Blind trouble shooting over the internet with minimal details will get shot in the dark guesses at best. Having someone probe with a multimeter will produce better results, IMO.

First things first. Before you take it to a professional, I would at least look and see if you popped the 75 amp alternator fuse. If so, switch the battery out with another one, then replace the fuse and see if it does it again. If your battery is still under the hood, it's possible that was the final pop sound you heard.

Would the alternator fuse make everything stop working? There is no power to anything when i turn the key it doesn't do anything. Thanks for the advice though it all helps seeing as how im new to all of this.

If your battery is shorted you're not going to get any power. I'm not suggesting that that fuse is all tha's wrong. SOMETHING BIG happened if that fuse blew.. What I'm saying is have your battery tested (or swap it out with a known good one), check that fuse, and THEN try to start your car.. All in that order..
